The Conversation Café was launched as one of the new activities of the Speaking-Skills Center, affiliated with the Faculty of Language Studies in November 2022. The Conversation Café is an interactive, engaging edutainment platform, which encourages participants to dialogue about things that matters to them.

So far eight meetings were conducted. During the Café, students and FLS staff converse and engage in group activities while enjoying coffee and tea together in the lounge. Some of the activities include debate, storytelling, games, group discussion, and goal-setting.

This has been a great way to build rapport with the students outside of the classroom and give them opportunities to discuss and increase confidence in their speaking skills.

It is worth noting that both the Speaking-Skills Center and the Writing Skills Center operate in all AOU branches, as they were initiated by the FLS-HQ Dean, Professor Aziz Thabet.​
