Dr. La'aleh Al-Aali presented a paper titled “Sustainable Development Framework towards building sustainable SMEs in the Kingdom of Bahrain" at the ICOM 2023 Conference in Abu Dhabi- 22^nd February – 24 February.  The conference is presented annually by Abu Dhabi University's College of Business.

ICOM 2023 was under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Cabinet Member, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. The paper explored integrating the sustainability dimensions which can  play a critical role in regulating the business being set up and form innovative business set ups and processes. The research analysis indicates the significant implications in improving the funding scheme for entrepreneurship in Tamkeen to be strategically linked to regional and global standards that will eventually have a positive impact on businesses. The main aim of the paper  is to explore SME practices within a sustainable framework to form innovative businesses that raises a developing economy in the long term towards a developed economy.
