Mr. Ali bin Al Sheikh Abdulhussein Al Asfoor, Governor of the Northern Governorate, along with the team of healthy cities in the governorate, visited Arab Open University- Bahrain in A’ali area, as part of the governorate’s efforts to achieve the standards related to skills development, vocational training and capacity building, and the extent to which they are linked to the labor market.
The Governor was welcomed by Dr. Ghurmallah Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Director of the Arab Open University- Bahrain, a number of university officials, and Dr. Nader Al-Aali, who was representing the A’ali Charitable Society.
During the visit, Dr. Al-Ghamdi expressed his adoption of a number of accreditation initiatives to develop students' research capabilities in the areas of historical studies of successive civilizations in the A'ali region. He also expressed his willingness to support Health Development Projects and make the Arab Open University a health promoting site in adopting preventive health projects. Dr. Al- Ghamdi expressed his readiness to cooperate with the residents of the Northern Governorate to promote health in sports events and national celebrations, support initiatives to combat the pandemic, and consolidate innovation and creativity programs through the university’s training centers in order to align the students’ specializations with the labor market.
During the visit, The Governor visited the university’s facilities. Dr. Al- Ghamdi explained the university’s pivotal role in developing communication and distant education and the advanced technological capabilities available in order to develop the scientific and cognitive aspects of students.
At the end of the visit Dr. Ghurmallah Al- Ghamdi wished success to the Governor and his team in the governorate in all their future plans and programs.
