I am currently serving as Assistant
Professor in the Faculty of Language Studies at Arab Open University – Bahrain,
and I am a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Advanced Research in Experimental
and Applied Linguistics at McMaster University. I hold a PhD in Theoretical
Linguistics from Newcastle University, UK. With over 24 years of international
teaching and research experience across Tunisia, England, Oman, and Bahrain, I
have taught and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students in diverse linguistic
and applied language studies. My core areas of specialization include theoretical
and applied linguistics, TESOL methods, academic writing, and research
methodology. My primary research focus lies in Arabic linguistics, especially
Arabic dialects and the syntax–discourse interface. I also explore wider themes
such as applied linguistics and writing pedagogy, language revitalization,
multilingualism, and the sociolinguistic dimensions of Arabic in educational
and intercultural contexts. Beyond teaching and research, I have held key
academic leadership roles, including oversight of postgraduate programs,
quality assurance processes, curriculum design, examination and assessment
systems, and institutional accreditation. My contributions have been integral
to university-wide committees and leadership teams focused on academic
excellence and program development.
I bring over 24 years of international teaching and academic experience across Tunisia, the United Kingdom, Oman, and Bahrain, delivering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in linguistics and applied language studies. I have taught and coordinated MA TESOL and EFL courses, including research methodology, language teaching methods, and thesis supervision, alongside extensive experience in curriculum design, assessment, and practicum supervision.
