About Program

​​​​​​​​​The Graphic and Multimedia Design/Technology Program is an AOU program that provides students with essential knowledge and  skills about the fields of Multimedia, Advertising, Branding, Motion Graphics and Animation.

Graduates of this program will be able to undertake 3D animation, game design, mobile applications and development projects which involve advanced multimedia and graphics capabilities.

Students will be able to apply creativity, artistic skills, conceptual design, and critical thinking. Students will also be able to create a relationship between design and industry through the development of visual communication.

Students will be able to evaluate and select the appropriate design techniques and technological tools applicable to real-world projects.

Graduates of this program will have a broad range of potential career opportunities in the professional sectors of image production, based on the execution of projects in the field of audio-visual, motion graphics, film-making, photography, advertising, branding and interactive design.


Why to study

The main aim of this program is to help students maintain firm grasp of graphic design and multimedia technology, including 3D model construction, lighting, and animation that will enable the interested individuals to create exciting, engaging, and interactive experiences. In addition, individuals will learn how to correct and enhance already developed images/multimedia and develop all types of graphic media including web pages, marketing campaigns, advertising, instructional material, and multimedia projects. The program will help in developing strong skills in artistic creativity, historical background of graphic/multimedia design, multimedia and graphic design standards, specialized theoretical background, business fundamentals, and mastering the relevant technologies and tools. Therefore, this program balances the theoretical and the practical aspects, and the artistic and technological aspects.

In addition to the above mentioned, the program has the following distinctive features:

  • Tutorials are delivered by tutors with professional experience in Multimedia and Graphic Design. This is in addition to their academic experience, which contributes to prepare our graduates for the industry.
  • Tutoring is conducted by a highly -qualified team of tutors
  • The practical nature of the program
  • Boosted by the collective intelligence of multiple tutor teams at different branches.


Duration of the Program

The student will study 134 credit hours to obtain a bachelor's degree in this program, these credits distributed among 8 semesters. The typical student can complete the credits within 4 academic years. But the maximum duration for this program is 16 semesters (i.e. 8 academic years).

The method of study is blended learning.

Brief description of mains areas within the overall specialisation

The main areas within the overall specialisation include Computer Graphic Design, Multimedia Production, Computer Aid Design, Computer Modelling and Animation Techniques. The Computer Graphic Design area deals with the effective use of Computer Technology towards the creation of creative and artistic designs and projects. The Multimedia Production part of the programme deals with the integration of sound, graphics, images and video content to create stimulating and inspiring multimedia projects. Computer Aid Design deals with the application of digital computer technology towards building advanced models of industrial parts and components necessary for building industrial products, tools and machinery. The Computer Modelling and Animation techniques enable users to produce developmental models and sketches of products, perform character and environment modelling, develop animatic actions, and undertake content development for games and animations.
