Main tasks and responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the university president and continuous coordination, the Assistant President for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research performs the following tasks, duties and responsibilities:

• General supervision of the educational process at the university in the Kingdom of Bahrain from the academic perspective.
• Achieving the university's goals in the academic field in accordance with the university's strategic vision, goals and plans.
• Implementing the university's study programs and plans in coordination with the faculties in other branches of the Arab Open University as well as the headquarter​.
• Implementing the policies of admission, registration, examinations and student affairs and supervising their implementation.
• Proposing the general policy for student services and ensuring that the departments concerned with student services carry out their tasks in a manner that serves the interests of students.
• Implementing the regulations and executive procedures that govern the educational process and developing follow-up plans and supervising the activities of local deans at the university in coordination with the headquarter.
• Assisting in the process of approving and following up on programmes and ensuring that they are submitted to the relevant authorities according to the rules and at the appropriate time.
• Studying the market needs for specializations required by development plans and proposing the opening or cancellation of academic programs in coordination with the main headquarter and the Quality Assurance.​
  
• C​ooperation with academic institutions of international reputation.​
  
• Carrying out other tasks and duties stipulated by the university's regulations and bylaws.
• What the President delegates to him and what he assigns of work and tasks within the university's goals and objectives.
