Arab Open University – Bahrain Welcomes U.S. Ambassador to Explore American Corner Activities and Academic Initiatives
As part of the partnership between the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain and Arab Open University – Bahrain, the university welcomed Her Excellency Stephanie Hallett to learn about the American Corner’s activities, programmes, and role in promoting educational and cultural exchange.
The visit included a tour of the Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Robotics Labs, where Ambassador Hallett learned about the laboratories’ technological capabilities and viewed a robot developed by the university’s students as part of their practical projects.
Her Excellency also visited the American Corner, attended one of its weekly discussion sessions, and engaged with participating students. The American Corner is a welcoming space open to the public that provides information about U.S. history, culture, and society; supports English-language learning; offers guidance to students interested in studying at U.S. colleges and universities; and hosts educational and cultural
programmes. It also connects U.S. government-sponsored programme alumni with local communities and supports professional development, entrepreneurship, and skills building.
Dr. Najma Taqi, President of Arab Open University – Bahrain, highlighted the importance of the partnership with the U.S. Embassy in providing educational and cultural opportunities that broaden students’ horizons and strengthen their skills. She reaffirmed the university’s commitment to initiatives that combine learning, cultural engagement, and professional development, enriching the student experience and fostering connections across cultures.
The visit highlights the value of the partnership between the university and the U.S. Embassy in strengthening the American Corner’s role as a platform for learning, cultural exchange, and skills development, while building connections between academic institutions and the wider community in Bahrain.
