His Excellency Mr. Jameel bin Muhammad Ali Humidan, Minister of Labour, inaugurated ‘Careers Day’ at Arab Open University, Kingdom of Bahrain, on Wednesday, in the presence of Dr. GhurmAllah bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, AOU President, the University's administrative and academic staff members, as well as a number of officials at the Ministry, with the participation of many institutions and companies in the private sector.
The ‘Careers Day’ aimed to induct University students and graduates into a wide array of occupations and sectors relevant to their specializations. The event also aimed to introduce and train them on processes related to job application, job interview and CV building.
Participants were also engaged in a number of enlightenment meetings and activities especially prepared for the target group, such as "Be Ready –Career Qualification Skills", in order to familiarize university students with the basic skills required in the labour market.
Mr. Humidan then toured the pavilions of parties who participated in the exhibition; closely viewing the graduation projects of a number of University students, noting the significance of their contributions in relevant companies and institutions.
In his statement on this occasion, Mr. Humidan commended the efforts of AOU in organizing this exhibition, which reflects its role nationwide; serving and guiding university students in choosing various pathways and, therefore finally, integrating them into the labour market.
He also noted the joint cooperation between the Ministry of Labour and its affiliated bodies, notably the Ministry of Education and the Education and Training Quality Authority, as well as the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), in implementing several initiatives aimed at making Bahraini citizens as the first choice in the labour market. He also highlighted the contribution of educational and training institutions in empowering and guiding students, by helping them chose the best career paths.
In his turn, Dr. Al-Ghamdi affirmed the orientation of AOU to hold ‘Careers Day’, as it offers introduction to University students on the job opportunities offered by the labour market. He further commended the support of His Excellency the Minister of Labour for such events; the matter that reflects his interest in preparing university graduates for various job sectors inside the Kingdom of Bahrain. In this regard, he highlighted the significant role of AOU in educating citizens and preparing them for the labour market, through its initiative to provide specialized training programmes since 2020.
