About Program

In today’s revolutionary era in Information Technology and Computing (ITC), a highly complex and challenging business environment has resulted in IT expertise demands to all organizations in their different fields. Organizational success is highly correlated to organization’s capability to cope with accelerating advancement and changes in ITC, especially in communication and decision making. Labour market in the Arab World is striving for qualified individuals to take the lead of organizations in use and acquiring advanced technology effectively.

On this basis and in alignment with Arab Open University’s vision, it is our pleasure to offer an academic programme of Bachelor degree in Information Technology and Computing (ITC) in Arab Open University (AOU)- Kingdom of Bahrain as full-time study. The programme is offered in the English language using a blended learning methodology. 

The ITC programme has been designed and developed to provide a high quality programme of study to students at the Faculty of Computer Studies (FCS) in AOU. The design and development of this programme have taken into consideration the guidelines provided by professional standard bodies, including the QAA, UK (QAA2016) and the curriculum guidelines of ACM-IEEE 2013 in addition to the up-to-date prospectus of the Computing and Information Technology provided by the Open University-UK. This programme aims at qualifying students and improving their skills with advanced practical competencies in information and communication technologies.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements in Bachelor of Science in Information Technology & Computing (ITC) should be satisfied by following:

  • Prospective student shall present IGCSE degree or an equivalent degree that is accredited by Ministry of Education in Kingdom of Bahrain.
  • IGSCE degree or equivalent degree shall be in a science or industrial major. 
  • Provision of other official documents required upon admission application.

Note: The files of all admitted students shall be attested by the Higher Education Council, and accordingly the students shall be provided with a HEC ID number once approved.


Fields of Profession

This programme qualifies prospect students to complete Bachelor degree in Information Technology & Computing in various fields including: Data Management and Analysis, Software Development, Networking and communication.  Nevertheless, the programme enables graduates to pursue graduate studies in related fields. 


Method of delivery

The method of teaching for all Faculty of Computer Studies programmes is blended learning.

Specific graduation requirements 

In addition to complete the above requirements, the student must abide by the following to be eligible for attaining a graduation certificate from AOU:

1- Score a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. 

2- Complete the degree requirements in a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 8 years. (The student can complete graduation requirements in 4 years in case of passing 32 credit hours in each academic year). ​
