Arab Open University Launches “Smoke-Free Campus” Initiative to Promote Health Awareness
On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Student Affairs and Graduates Department at the Arab Open University launched an awareness initiative titled “Smoke-Free Campus" at the university's premises.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and promote healthy behaviors among the university community. It sought to shed light on the health and social harms associated with all forms of smoking – not only for smokers themselves but also for those around them.
As part of the initiative, educational brochures were distributed highlighting the negative impact of smoking on both physical and mental health. The materials also offered practical tips for quitting smoking and explained the health benefits individuals can gain after giving up the habit.
The campaign also paid special attention to the impact of smoking on women, particularly during pregnancy, and the potential health complications it can cause for both mother and child. This focus reflects the university's commitment to inclusivity and to raising awareness across all demographic groups.
The “Smoke-Free Campus" initiative is part of a broader series of health-focused programs launched by the Arab Open University to foster a safe and healthy learning environment. These efforts aim to encourage healthy lifestyles that positively affect academic performance and overall quality of life both on and off campus.
