The Faculty of Language Studies (FLS) in collaboration with the Training, Continuous Education, and Community Service Dept., organized on Thursday 18 May 2023 a very successful workshop titled “Creating Civically Engaged Classrooms” that was conducted by Prof. Ghada Abdel Hafeez, the FLS local dean.
The workshop attracted around 20 attendees from different universities, schools, and AOU graduates and students. It discussed many issues related to civic education and civic engagement like the importance of civic engagement to students, the different ways to achieve the students’ engagement in the classrooms, and finally the challenges that teachers face when implementing civic engagement in their classes.
It was an informative and delightful workshop. At the end, the attendees confirmed that it has added a lot to their knowledge and skills on how to prepare their students for their active roles as citizens who should play an active role in their communities’ common good.
