As part of its keenness to provide students with the skills needed for academic success, the Students’ Counselling Unit at Arab Open University, Kingdom of Bahrain organised a counselling seminar titled "Academic Advising at Arab Open University". The seminar took place on Thursday 1st December 2022. It was presented by Dr. Wahiba Al-Sayed, Head of the Students’ Counselling Unit at the University, and Ms. Aqeela Al-Sayed, a psychological and social counsellor at the Counselling Unit. The seminar aimed to educate students about the importance of academic advising and also to introduce them to the university's rules and regulations related to the advising process. It also aimed to inform them of the varied sources of support available on-campus that would contribute to achieving success and academic progress.
The lecture was highly interactive and was enriched with further discussion from the participating students. It was concluded by students' interventions and inquiries as well as the staff’s informative reflections on previous experiences.
Approximately 80 students from the University’s various academic programs participated in this seminar.
