Dr. Hussein Hasan Abdullah AlZidanin is an Associate Professor of English at the Faculty of Language Studies, Arab Open University – Bahrain. He earned his PhD in English Literature and Criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2011, following an MA in Translation Studies from Yarmouk University (2005) and a BA in English Language and Literature from the United Arab Emirates University (2001).
Dr. AlZidanin’s research explores postcolonial studies, hybridity, comparative literature, multiethnic and minority women’s writing, and Arab literary traditions. His work has been published in leading international journals, including Theory and Practice in Language Studies, International Journal of Arabic-English Studies, AWEJ for Translation & Literary Studies, and Advances in Language and Literary Studies.
His scholarship often examines questions of identity, belonging, freedom, and coexistence, with a critical focus on how literature engages with cultural and political realities. He has analyzed the works of diverse authors such as Joseph Conrad, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Mahmoud Darwish, and N. Scott Momaday, highlighting the intersections of literature, culture, and power.
Dr. Hussein Hasan Abdullah AlZidanin has over two decades of experience teaching English language and literature at universities in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. He has taught a wide range of courses, including English literature, literary criticism, translation studies, postcolonial literature, and multiethnic American fiction.
Known for his student-centered approach, Dr. AlZidanin emphasizes critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and the practical application of literary theory. Dr. Hussein Hasan Abdullah AlZidanin has held distinguished academic and administrative positions throughout his career. He began his academic journey at Tafila Technical University in Jordan, where he taught English literature and criticism from 2011 to 2025. During this period, he assumed several leadership roles, including Dean of the College of Arts (2023–2025), Chairman of the Department of English (2016–2017), and Director of the Language Center (2011–2013).
In addition to his service in Jordan, Dr. AlZidanin expanded his international experience by teaching in Saudi Arabia at Taibah University (2019–2020), where he contributed to the Department of Language and Translation. In 2025, he joined the Arab Open University – Bahrain as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Language Studies, further enriching his regional academic contributions.
His administrative leadership is marked by curriculum development, program coordination, faculty mentorship, and fostering academic research. He is recognized for balancing teaching, research, and administration with a commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.
