Effective Use of “Persuasion” and “Negation” in the Educational Process in the Faculty Development Forum
On Thursday, 27th May 2021, the Faculty Development Forum held its 12th sharing best practices workshop where two from the FLS Tutors - Dr. Hilda Brainee and Dr. Elena Novik - delivered a presentation on “Persuasion and Negation in the Educational Process." Dr. Hilda highlighted the importance of effective communication through her talk on “Living out our Mandate" with 4 typical points - Communication, Confidence, Consensus and Connection with the students / colleagues via using appropriate persuasion techniques, and Dr. Elena spoke about the perception of negation and its role in teaching and providing feedback.
Both presentations were warmly received and followed by a discussion. It was a good opportunity for the tutors/ colleagues to exchange their experience.
It was an engaging workshop, which contributed to the continual improvement of the teaching and learning best practices.
