AOU TESOL Community presented a workshop entitled: “Understanding Learning Differences and (Dis)abilities in the English Language Classroom”
Under the patronage of the Director of Arab Open University, Dr. Ghurmallah Al-Ghamdi, Ms. Sandra Story, the Regional Officer of RELO in the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain, presented a workshop entitled “Understanding Learning Differences and (Dis)abilities in the English Language Classroom” in cooperation with AOU Training, Continuous Education and Community Service Center and AOU TESOL Community. It is worth noting that the university director, a number of academic staff, students and graduates attended this workshop. It was also attended by a number of English language teachers from different schools in Bahrain. Ms. Sandra Story emphasised on the significance of identifying the differences among learners, and their abilities in oder to find the appropriate strategies to deal with them, several of which she higlighted throughout the workshop. In this context, Dr. Hisham Eltahawy, Head of AOU Training Center, stressed the importance of these activities to enhance the university's relationship with different organizations of the local community. He also indicated that the center intends to provide a number of activities as part of the university's community service. Mr. AbdulRidha Al Aradi, the lecturer and coordinator of AOU TESOL Community, stressed the importance of students and graduates’ participation in the committee’s activities and the need for them to actively participate in presenting their ideas in a way that helps in their personal and professional development.
