Arab Open University, Bahrain Branch, has announced its success in fulfilling the Institutional Review Board Requirements, during the review that took place in the period from 13th to 16th January, 2020. This announcement has come based on the report issued by Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), which was accredited by the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, chaired by his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, in its session held on Wednesday, Sep 16th, 2020.
The report has assured that Arab Open University has successfully fulfilled the requirements of quality assurance set forth by the institutional framework of the Quality Review Board, in the second session, which was approved by the Council of Ministers, under Decision No. 38 of 2015.
Dr. Ghurmallah bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Director of Arab Open University, Bahrain, assured that the university seeks the highest standards of high quality teaching and learning, aspiring to achieve the overall quality in all programs that the university offers, in order to go in line with norms of higher education in the Kingdom of Bahrain; while implementing the vision of His Majesty, the King, to improve education and, therefore, its economic and developmental growth, in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.
AOU university Director has also highlighted that this achievement university reflects the University’s commitment to the principles of quality assurance; locally accredited by the Higher Education Council and Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), and internationally through its bound affiliation with Open University, UK, which -in turn- is accredited by UK Higher Education system. The Director has also assured the University’s preparation for the upcoming Institutional Review for the IT and Computing Program, that is scheduled to take place by the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA) in the period between 11th to 14th October, 2020.
Arab Open University Director extended his gratitude and appreciation to the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), the Ministry of Education and Secretariat General of the Higher Education Council for the advancement of higher education institutions internationally and internationally. The Director also extended his gratitude to all academic and administrative staff members of the university for their efforts in fulfilling the Institutional Review Board Requirements, and for their pursuit of the University's advancement.
It is worth noting that the criteria of institutional review, adopted by the Authority to review higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain, are globally approved and recognized. Among the main above-mentioned criteria is ‘benchmarking’, which is considered an essential institutional review tool that is “internationally recognized”.
