His Highness Commends the contributions of the two Universities Enhancing the Sports Movement
Khalid bin Hamad witnesses the signing of Memorandum of Cooperation between the General Sports Authority, University of Technology Bahrain (UTB) and Arab Open University (AOU).
On June 21th, 2023, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, emphasized the significance of partnership between the General Sports Authority and various local universities to provide appropriate educational attainment opportunities for players to create an athletic generation armed with education and knowledge.
This came when His Highness signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the General Sports Authority, University of Technology Bahrain and Arab Open University in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority, His Excellency Mr. Hisham Al-Rayes, CEO of GFH Financial Group, Dr. Hassan Ali Al-Mulla, President of Bahrain University of Technology, and Dr. Ghurmallah Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, President of Arab Open University.
This came when His Highness attended the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the General Sports Authority, University of Technology Bahrain and Arab Open University, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Jumaa, Minister of Education, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, Her Excellency Dr. Diana Abdul Karim Al Jahrami, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, His Excellency Mr. Hisham Al-Rayes, CEO of GFH Financial Group, Dr. Hassan Ali Al-Mulla, President of the University of Technology Bahrain, and Dr. GhurmAllah Al-Ghamdi, President of Arab Open University.
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad stated that these agreements aim to encourage players to continue higher education and attain the highest academic ranks in order to ensure their professional future as well as their sporting brilliance. His Highness highlighted the interest of the General Sports Authority in motivating student athletes to continue their athletic contribution alongside their academic achievements simultaneously because of its positive effects on players and their families to achieve psychological and familial stability, as well as the importance of education for the development of the player's cultural, social, and cognitive thinking.
His Highness appreciated the cooperation of both University of Technology Bahrain and Open Arab University in concluding these agreements with the General Sports Authority, which aims to encourage players to continue university education and develop their abilities and skills in various academic aspects that benefit players in their sports campaign. His Highness praised the role played by the two universities in graduating many students to the labor market in various majors and contributing to supporting the sports movement.
During the signing ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the programs of the two universities and the sports facilities to be developed to organize student sports activities.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, by Dr. Hassan Ali Al-Mulla, the President of the University of Technology Bahrain, and by Dr. GhurmAllah Alghamdi, President of Arab Open University.
