Prof. Dr. Samir Qasim Fakhro, Director of AOU Bahrain Branch said that the Arab Open University (AOU), Kingdom of Bahrain, makes strides in the field of advanced use of technology at the academic and non-academic institutions levels, to be the frontrunner in such areas.

 Arab Open University won Arab e-Content Award 2009 for the category of e-learning and was honoured at a ceremony held under the patronage of H.E Shaikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of SCICT Committee.

 Again, AOU Bahrain Branch, comes a long way in the path of excellence and won Arab e-Content Award 2009 for the category of e-learning as announced by the judge committee of the World Summit Award. The University was recognized in a ceremony held as a part of the inauguration ceremony events of Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2009, which was attended by dignitaries from international organizations such as the United Nations, Arab and GCC countries and a number of some European countries in addition to VIPs from the international private sector, on Monday, 25th May 2009 at Isa Cultural Centre.

 Praise be to God, AOU Bahrain Branch was also honored in the event the same for clinching the Government Excellence Award 2009 for the category of (e-economy), according to the official results of the national judge committee.

 It is worth to mention that AOU Bahrain Branch won the accreditation of UNESCO as a center of excellence in the development of e-learning systems and contents of e-curricula in the Arab region. All international experts who visited the University affirmed its workforce competencies and high levels of efficiency and quality in this field.

Honouring Arab Open University today for winning such major awards in the areas of e-learning and e-economy is a generous gesture of the officials in the Kingdom of Bahrain and a significant catalyst for the University to exert more efforts and achieve new strides.
