As a new institution of open learning, the AOU is seeking institutional Accreditation as well as Validation of its programmes, in order to establish the University's strong academic standing, integrity and reputation as an academic institution of excellence. The AOU also considers the rigor of these processes as a measure and means of Quality Assurance checks that will help the institution improve its operations in various ways on a continuing basis.
The AOU considers accreditation a necessary and positive process that contributes to achieving its mission in:
• Promoting a high quality system of open learning. • Fostering an open and equal opportunity environment conducive to intellectual development, as well as both theoretical and applied research. • Providing students with academic programmes that cater to their learning and professional development needs. • Preparing students for further and more advanced study. • Preparing and qualifying students for employment in a globally competitive market. |
